Calthwaite Hall Lodges - Self-catering holiday park with free WiFi, hot tub, and fully equipped kitchens in the Cumbrian countryside
Located in the Cumbrian countryside near Penrith, Calthwaite Hall Lodges offers self-catering holiday park accommodations with free WiFi, a hot tub, and a fully equipped kitchen in each lodge. Each lodge includes a private bathroom, TV, and appliances such as a refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, oven, and stovetop. Guests can relax in the on-site hot tub, which is maintained daily and, in some lodges, features a canopy with colour-changing lights. The property is home to free-roaming peacocks and ponies, which add to the rural ambiance. Dining is available at the on-site restaurant Nosh, which serves hearty dishes including Sunday roasts, fish and chips, and homemade pie, with a 10% discount for residents. Calthwaite Hall Lodges is situated 6 km from Hutton In The Forest and within 21 km of Askham Hall, Brougham Castle, Carlisle Castle, and Rheged Discovery Centre. Newcastle International Airport is 100 km away, and the M6 motorway provides easy road access. The site has a security gate with fob access and offers parking next to each lodge. Dogs are allowed in select lodges at Calthwaite Hall Lodges, and additional services such as towel hire are available.
Pros
Staff are described as friendly, welcoming, and helpful.
The lodges are consistently noted as clean, spacious, and well-equipped.
The on-site restaurant Nosh offers generous portions and high-quality food.
The site's peacefulness and security gates contribute to a relaxing atmosphere.
Cons
Towels are not included and must be brought or rented at an additional cost.
The WiFi connection can be unreliable in some parts of the site.
“Calthwaite Hall Lodges offers a genuinely welcoming atmosphere, enhanced by the thoughtful touches within the lodges themselves, which contribute to a sense of being truly cared for during your stay. The property's peaceful setting is beautifully complemented by the free-roaming peacocks and other animals, providing a charming backdrop that feels both tranquil and engaging. It strikes a fine balance, serving as both a restful retreat and a convenient base for exploring the surrounding area.”
